Committees are the official member structures of our union, through which we run our union and work to improve conditions for all of us. The Organizing Committee was assembled prior to the recognition of our union, the other committees have been elected by our membership.
Organizing Committee
The Organizing Committee (OC) is a group of graduate workers at UVM who have taken on the task of engaging with the other graduate workers to help us all come together as union members and take collective action. The current focus of our Organizing Committee is our Contract Campaign, in support of our ongoing first contract negotiations. The Organizing Committee meets weekly on Wednesdays at 4pm. Reach out here if you’d like to join a meeting.
Elections Committee
The Elections Committee (EC) was elected in the first General Membership Meeting held post-election in order to conduct and election for the Bargaining Committee. The role of the Elections Committee is to coordinate and hold elections for union committees and officer positions. Current committee members are Taylor Kocian, Gabriel Meyer-Lee, William Thompson, and Mandy Nix. The committee can be contacted at gsuelections@uaw2322.org
Bargaining Committee
The Bargaining Committee (BC) was elected by a membership-wide online election to represent our union at the bargaining table with UVM. The committee drafts articles for our first contract and brings them to the bargaining sessions with the university, where they negotiate on the articles. If you’d like to contribute to the drafting of articles, you can do so by joining one of the bargaining committee’s working groups, listed below with the contact for each group.
